SRO Guide to Hunting Tiger Girl

Monday, October 31st, 2011

Tiger Girl usually spawns inside the Bandit Stronghold in Jangan. Supposedly she has 12 random spawning points but your best bet is to stick within in the Stronghold. A good way you can time her spawn is to see when the other unique bosses appear.

Tiger Girl is a level 20 unique boss riding on a giant white tiger and she’s as powerful as a strong white tiger. Tiger Girl has to ability to invoke a zombie status on your character meaning that if you try healing yourself with pots, the exact opposite will happen and you will be reducing health instead of gaining it with the pot. Tiger Girl literally spawns 5-10 giant white/black/normal tigers about every 10-15 seconds. She then spawns about 10-20 white/black/normal tigers about every 10 seconds. This can get very hectic for you as these tigers spawn right around her in about a 5-6 meter radius so it’s very hard to target her with all of those tigers running around. After Tiger Girl is killed, her tigers are still going to be running around so dont let your guard down.

The following are some requirements you should have before trying to fight Tiger Girl.

Your character should at least be level 24 (I’ll suggest level 30+ if you don’t want to have a hard time). As long as white/black tigers don’t more then 1-2 damage to you then you alright. An ideal character built to fight Tiger Girl would be a STR build because they have very high defense and strong attacks, which is good because you’re going to have to endure like 50 tigers at once.

You should have at least 3 friends or more who are at your level (assuming your level 24) or higher to join you so you don’t get targeted by all of her tigers. Usually there are going to be like 10-20 people (usually high level) who are usually camping inside the stronghold for Tiger Girl (if you don’t have 3 friends your level or higher) so you could probably tag along with them and you should be alright.

Bring lots and lots of pots and abnormal cures because it’s going to be a long fight and you don’t want to die and have your body being over runned by all of those tigers

4) You should have your character with beserk mode ready so you can hit Tiger Girl hard, strong, and fast before she starts spawning too many tigers.

The strategies that can help when fighting Tiger Girl are given below.

As earlier told you should have at least 3 friends or more who can help you out and get your back for Tiger Girl. Before fighting her though, you should make a party with Exp Share so you can all have a fare share of the experience at her. Remember, everyone is focusing on killing Tiger Girl, not her tigers, so Exp Distribution is kind of pointless.

You should have 1 or 2 guys stay on the background to resurrect/heal your friends so they can help back out again. You should have these guys behind a healing circle if they aren’t that strong.

Your party should also have about 2 archers and 3 spears/glavie/sword/blades in order to kill Tiger Girl efficiently. Archers should use the Autumn Wind skill because it allows them to hit Tiger Girl (with damage close to an anti-devil missile) while doing splash damage to the tigers around her so they can clear things up a bit. The other 3 hard hitting spears/sword/etc should stay in the front and hit Tiger Girl directly.

As for Tiger Girl’s drops, I’ve heard various things from people such as her dropping SOS items, unrepeatable items or elixirs. I’ve also heard that she drops nothing at all except money and some normal items. But her drops are free for anyone I think (because she a unique boss) so you better pick up fast.

SRO Guide Grey Wolf

Monday, October 31st, 2011

Before beginning, make sure you have 1,000,000 Gold and About 200,000 to spare (optional). Why are those required? To purchase a wolf from the stable OR buy one from a stall My wolf have died numerous times and revive pots cost a bundle 50,000 each + You need hp recovery pots for your wolf.

There are some key features you should understand. Wolf can die so make sure before you hunt your regular monster make sure he is almost your level or at your level. Wolf can be summoned with a horse or optional pick up pet (silk). Wolf can suffer attributes like Burn,Frezze,Slow. Once summoned will stay by your side until one of these conditions are met. Wolf loses all its HP and dies. If you die and you’re facing a tough monster ETC, it will continue fighting until the wolf dies so make sure u respawn fast or it might die too and cost you 50k to revive once you respawn back at town it will be back at town too. Wolf does not have any skills it can only attack like regular bump attack. Hunger if you notice there is a yellow bar underneath the hp bar it is the hunger bar and once it reach 30 percent it attack and defense will decrease by half and when it reach 0 your pet will die When your wolf level the bar will be filled back(unsummon wolf before opening stall). Like your character name wolf can also be named please be aware it cannot have the same name as another wolf =).Wolf ACQUIRE the MAXIMUM EXP it can receive it does not suffer from your skill gap (similar to you having a 0 gap). Wolf MAY NOT PASS your current level this may happen a lot since pet gain more exp from a monster than you will (not sure if you can buy a wolf at a stall higher level than you and use it)

Grey Wolf has several features/method of attacking. Information/Stats (White Paper)-Check your current pet information such as Health, Hunger, EXP and pet name. Unsummon(Arrow)-Like the name indicate unsummon the pet back to your inventory. Follow (little paw)-once you set your pet to do a specific command you can override the command when you press this it will follow you. Attack (Claw)-Once you select a monster and you personally do not want to attack it press this and it will attack the selected monster. Offensive (Teeth)-Set it so once you attack a monster it will attack it too/when you set it on non offensive (BIG RED X over it) it will not attack the monsters you attack.

Training Areas(current wolf level)

1-5 Mangyang OR Weseal OR Water Ghost

5-10 Stone Lions OR Yeoha

Make sure the monster you fight are 1-2 level behind you for the best results

Once your pet reaches your level it can fend for itself so you can go to your regular training area. It has been advised that you do not have the grey wolf pet summoned during a job run (Thief,Trader,Hunter) due to the high probability it will be killed also pick a large mob area to train at.

When it reaches your level set it to offensive and does what you usually do but this time the wolf will be a great help and it helps distract the monsters sometimes. At level 40 it will transform into a true wolf you might have seen people have wolf that are bigger than your pup those are.

A Short Guide to De-Leveling In Silkroad Online

Friday, October 28th, 2011

As Sp farming is so important in Silkroad online, There are indeed too many SP farming guides. Purchase a bow, left a 9 level gap and hunted day in day out in the Stronghold. Even with such a gap you will level up eventually and somewhat “lose” the bonus of the perfect location – Bandit Stronghold. Here is a short guide on “de-leveling”.

Go back to Jangan. Strip your clothes off and put them into your storage. You avoid them losing durability or losing them altogether, as you are going to die. You may want to unequip your weapon and store it as well or at least replace it with something really basic.

Go to the portal. It’s the blue shining oval thing you can see near the main market place. Right click it and teleport to Donwhang. This will cost you 5000 gold pieces and another 5000gp to teleport back. Consider it an investment, and it is definitely worth it.

Now you are in Donwhang. Stay near the portal, right click it again and set it as your new respawn location, so that if you die you don’t end up back in Jangan, but in Donwhang.

Now you are set. You can ask one of the polite higher levels with the resurrect skill to accompany you but it’s not necessary. Leave Donwhang using the East Gate – you should be “welcomed” and ripped apart by Earth Ghosts promptly. Respawn in Donwhang, go out again, die again… alternatively someone can resurrect you right there. Repeat this procedure until you only have little % left of level 16 or whatever level you are/need to maintain your 9 level gap.

Use the Donwhang portal to teleport back to Jangan. This will again cost you 5000gp.

In Jangan right click the portal and set Jangan as your respawn location. You don’t want to end up back in Donwhang if you die.

Get your clothes and weapon – you can now continue farming.

SRO Tips for Curst Heart Quest

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Talk to an herbalist and select the ‘Withdraw Skill’ option. The next part of the conversation should have two options. The first one is Resuscitation potion quest. The second option may be displayed in Korean, as ‘random’ letters and junk. When first starting this quest, ignore the second option here, as it is used to open up the ‘de-level’ menu for resetting skills.

Now collect 10 (or more) of item ‘Curst Heart’. This quest item can drop from any mob you fight, although it seems to be a rather rare drop. You can collect up to 300 maximum at one time. This quest will not block quest item drops from other quests.

When ready to reset skill(s), bring ‘Curst Heart’ quest items to herbalist and go back through the conversation path used to start the quest to create your potions. When you request that the herbalist create potions (meaning, finishing the quest), he will turn as many ‘Curst Heart’ into potions as possible, so if you do not have even count of 10 (10, 20, 30, etc) you will have a few left over. Each potion created consumes 10 ‘Curst Heart’ quest items. Creating a potion does NOT cost any gold. You can carry a maximum of 30 of these potions.

After you have created a potion, you will no longer be able to get ‘Curst Heart’ drops. If you want to be able to resume collecting hearts, you will have to go back through the correct ’starting quest’ conversation path with an herbalist again.

Once you have ‘Resuscitation Potion’ items, you again talk to any herbalist, choose the skill reset quest conversation path, and choose the Korean option in the conversation. This option will be very obvious. If you have Korean set as your default Windows Non-Unicode language, the option will be in Korean characters, if not, it will look like gibberish. In either case, this option will open up a new window. This window will look very similar to your normal ’skill up’ menu and works very similar too.

Select the skill you want to de-level by clicking on the red ‘DN’ icon under it. A new window will pop up asking you to select the desired level to reset the skill to. Use the Up/down arrows next to the skill level to select the level you wish. If you want to drop a skill more than one level, you will need one potion for every level you want to drop. This means you need to collect (Number of levels to remove * 10) ‘Curst Heart’ quest items.

However, this is a very expensive path. Going from level 2 to level 1 in a skill costs over 16,000 gold, and going from level 3 to level 2 in a skill costs over 19,000 gold, and going from level 3 to level 1 costs 36,000+ gold!!

When you drop a skill level, you will get back 80% of the SP used to originally gain that level. Before ‘purchasing’ your de-level, you will be informed of how many SP you will receive, along with the required price in gold.

Change Mastery Level. To lower a mastery level, you must have no skill leveled up that requires that level of mastery. You will know when you meet the requirement for this as a red ‘Level Down’ button will appear next to your mastery level in the ‘de-level’ window. After that, it’s the same process as lowering a skill level.

How to Avoid Getting Popped and/or Survive a Chase

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

To all the traders out there who are too scared and lazy to do more than one star, this is a guide for you to avoid getting popped, or survive if you’re getting popped.

First and foremost, you can never avoid getting chased by a popper 100 percent of the time. However, we can reduce this chance by following these easy strategies.

You can hire or ask a trusted player in the game to scout for you while on the trade run. The scout should not wear any job suits when carrying this task. The main objective is to have the scout travel ahead of the trader while looking for thieves around. If a thief is spotted, the scout can simply send a message to the trader, who will then take a different route. It’s very simple but to execute this, the scout has to sacrifice his time to help the trader.

Most poppers target fresh traders and most starting traders take the fastest path to get to the next town. Most of them also use the main road. Because of this, poppers tend to wait on the spots where traders could easily pass or follow, such as the roads. To avoid getting popped, you simply have to go off-road and/or take the longer path instead of the shorter one. For example, in a trade run from Jangan to Donwhang, try avoiding the East Ferry and just take the West Ferry via south of the Bandit Stronghold, while traveling away from the main road.

If you have failed in avoiding poppers, the following are pretty good strategies for your Plan B

The most obvious one would be to hire a hunter to protect you from thieves. However, most hunters are only willing to do this if there are more than one people in the trade run party, or if the trader has more than 1 star. This may be so because it gives them adrenaline rush. XD

Most poppers camp at points in the road where it is half way between towns. This is to prevent the traders from having enough time and little space to travel back to the city. To counter this, take at least 150 caravan pills for your camel or horse. When half way to your destination, a popper comes into the scene, you can either continue running to the next town or go back to the starting town. It’s suggested that you choose the path easier to you in terms of mobs. For example, going from Jangan to Donwhang, it is better for you go back to Jangan than to continue to Donwhang because the mobs are easier to kill when going back. Compare Tigers from Earth Magicians.

There’s a very high rate of failure to this especially when the thief is high level. The NPC thieves would inflict more damage to your horse or camel than you would heal it.

Before going out of town buy enough pills for your camel/horse and your wolf. Then summon your pet wolf, because once mobs such as NPC thieves start attacking you, you can’t summon it. When in the midst of a chase, use your pet to attack the NPC thieves, diverting them away from you and your precious caravan. Wolves are great tankers so they can take sufficient damage from high level thieves. However, it is recommended that you get at least a level 20 wolf.

As the NPC thief attacks your wolf, keep healing it. Of course, you cannot use your wolf to kill high level thieves. You need a way to make your pet run away from the thief. To do this, make it attack mobs that are far away from the NPC thief. This would prompt it to follow your wolf wherever it goes. With this, coupled with your wolfs speed, you can easily distract the NPC thief.

If your popper has more than one star and spawn more than one NPC thieves, then make your wolf attack all these NPC thieves. They would all then follow after your pet, while it’s running to attack mobs you’ve clicked for it. Eventually, your wolf would outrun the thieves, making them stop chasing.

Way to Edit IP for Media.Pk2

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

To edit IP for media.pk2, you will need some tools, including one of these Hex editors, Hex Workshop, XVI32, any pk2 Extractor & Editor and Decimal to Hex convertor DECIMAL to HEX converter.

There are 2 ways you can do it.

Method 1

1) Extract divisioninfo.txt from Media.pk2
2) Open this file with Hex editor
3) Find this value, this is why your regular edit do not work.
That value is IP character length 0B = 11, this mean character should have 11 characters, this include DOTs 111.222.3.1. If you have shorter or longer IP just edit that value. If you can’t convert Decimals to Hex use link number 3.
4) If you have Long IP and no space to enter numbers just hit INSERT on your keyboard or from menu Edit -> Insert (number of bytes = number of characters you need).
5) Last thing, I don’t know if it is required but be sure you have an empty byte at end of your file Hex value is > 00.

Method 2

Open directly Media.pk2 with any Hex editor. Find where IP is and look for this byte, that value is IP character length 0B = 11, this mean character should have 11 characters, this include DOTs 111.222.3.1.

SRO Jobs Guide to Being a Hunter Ⅱ

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

You had better hunt when you have full fifth degree armor. If you do start before this, you will be destroyed by high level thieves. Once you have most of these skills you should start too, which is way you absolutely have to sp farm, or you will never be able to get them all. Below are some tips for it.

You’re on your first guarding mission and a human thief attacks, and you realize you have no idea how to use your skills to maximum effect.

First we’ll start with the items you should have. You should have at least 100 medium potions, both MP and HP, and about 50 universal pills. You should also have auto potion recovery turned on, so you don’t have to waste slots on potions. When the thief first attacks, you should immediately freeze him with cold wave arrest.

Then, while he is frostbitten, you should have time to launch a thunderbolt at him. If he is weak, this should kill him, but if he isn’t, let him start to come to you, then select the Flying Dragon Spear and Thunder force, whichever one you have. This will hurt him even more, before he has even gotten to you. Hopefully, the lightning will also have put him in a shocked state, so his dodge is reduced.

Then, use the remainder of your time with Thunder force and combine it with Chain Spear attack. This will hurt him multiple times, and if you have it at its absolute highest, you will hit him 7 times with enormous amounts of damage being done, because of the physical and electrical attack being added together. If he is not dead yet, use another chain spear and thunder force on him. Continue like this until he is dead.

Now, as for who should come with you, make sure it is not someone who is the same as you. All but the very best, as in levels 60 and up, need help on trade runs. This kind of party will generally own everyone who attacks them, as long as they are all above level 45.

If you need to, you can go along with your friends and all go as traders, but act as hunters, so that you all help protect each other and you all get your own individual profit. Don’t be afraid to spend on your items. They mean your life. You can, in the event you need, buy things from the item mall, which can increase the damage you do and you are defense. You can get everyone to go in a lower armor than they actually are, then switch when thieves arrive. This is, however a slow tactic. In the event you do it, be positive to equip you are normal weapon and highest armor first, since they will help the most.

SRO Jobs Guide to Being a Hunter Ⅰ

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

Do you want to school all those annoying thieves, or maybe help a friend get some huge dough? If you have one main character, but you want to start another one, this guide will tell you what you should do.

At the character creation screen, choose whichever face you want, but make it as large as possible. It will be more intimidating.

Then, choose you weapon as a glaive, not spear! One time, go do that small Chinese tutorial thing & the hunting 30 mangyangs. This ought to take possibly half an hour at most, & will get you to level three. Then, do that quest for the blacksmith. One time you have done that; go get the Lost Child quest & the hunting weasel’s quest. Both of these are over at the east gate. Head out the east gate & keep going along the road until you come to some hills crawling with elderly weasels. A bit south of that are some big-eyed ghosts. Beat the quests. While you do this you ought to be sp farming, & one time you get to level five, you ought to get the weapon skills for lightning & glaive. Then sp farm until you are level twenty, when you can spend it all. Keep in mind that you must do all the quests. It is well worth it.

The best skills for hunting are cold and lightning. The only masteries you should ever get in cold are Cold level 12, and Cold wave arrest level 1.

However in lightning, there are lots of useful skills for hunting as below.

Lightning

Thunder force series: as high as you can possibly get it.

Piercing force series: as high as you can possibly get it.

Wind walk series: as high as you can possibly get it.

Lion shout: this skill is nothing compared to the thunderbolt series, but you can get it as long as you get rid of it later with skill reallocation potions (available at level 20).

Concentration series: I would get this fairly high, and if you ever have extra skill points, you may as well put them on this.

Thunderbolt series: Here it is. The best offensive skill for hunting that there is. Get this as high as you can possibly get it.

Heaven’s Force series: This is good, and since it only has one book, get it as high as possible, since increasing the mastery of a certain book does not affect the total amount of mastery levels you have (Isn’t that great!?)

Heuksal

Annihilating blade series: maybe a few levels when you start out, but once you get good it stinks.

Fanning spear series: none. This is possibly the worst skill in the game.

Heuksal Spear series: You should get this pretty high. It’s not great for multiple people, but it has a better damage to mana point used than soul departs series.

Soul Departs series: Get this as high as possible.

Ghost Spear series: get this maybe halfway through its masteries.

Chain Spear Attack series: Get this as high as possible.

Flying Dragon Spear series: Get this as high as possible.

Cheolsam Force: get every single mastery. It is more than worth it.

Force

Self heal series: at the maximum get this to the second book. it’s good, but you really don’t have time for healing on a trade run, and potions are much better.

Force cure series: nothing..

Heal series: get this as high as you can get it without bringing your force level above 30.

Rebirth Art series: only get the first book of this, since that’s really all you need.

Everything else in force should not be needed, except the force increasing series, which should be at level 3.

The cold is extremely important because it slows down your enemy, although it can be dropped by hunters only going after other players. It is more useful for traders doing one star trades, for use against NPC thieves who will not be able to keep up once frostbitten.

You may ask why not fire instead of lightning. Lightning does not do as much damage over all, but it can do more damage total. For one, lightning has the piercing, concentration and wind walk series, which are far more useful than a few extra defenses. The piercing is useful because it increases your magical damage, which will not be very high because you will be pure or almost pure strength. Concentration increases your parry ratio, which reduces the average amount of damage dealt to you by opponents. And, of course, the wind walks series. The second book teleports you instantly to where you want to go, as long as it is within range. This is good for getting at escaping targets. The third and first books increase your movement speed over a long period of time, which is also very useful for catching up with thieves who do not have this. So that’s why you have lightning.

SRO Guide to Full Force Nuker

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

This build is probably the equivalent of the Wizard nuker. This is mainly for support fire. Why choose a weapon mastery which focuses on phys. It’s good against other pure INT but this is a support character, Chinese are known to be better at solo, but this is a Party PvPer, it would work well jobbing with other people. It would do decent at solo player vs. player.

Of course, you want STR/INT blues, +s, HP/MP increase, SoX (if you can get it). You can wear protector because you’re not too focused on one area and you’re still getting adequate physical defense. It’s a good balance between mag. def and phy. def although you will take considerably more damage from phy. base mobs than from mag. based. The extra phy. Defenses and snow shield should make up for the (still) low phy. def. from protector. The buffs from cold (mag.) and fire (phy.) plus some good SoX protector gear should put you above NPC armor and garment.

S/S has more defenses and can block some attacks. Spear has more attack power but no extra defense power or any extra gear to put blues on. This is why you use both. Spear for the initial nuke because it’s stronger then switch to s/s if your enemy isn’t dead yet. This will be pricey trying to get both weapons SoX, I recommend just getting Spear SoX. You shouldn’t start dual-wielding until level 30 (or when you get your first nukes). Just wield s/s until then.

Below is the list of skills you will need for fully fledged nuking, including Cold 100 / Lightning 100 / Fire 100.

Until level 30 (when you get your first nukes), you should skill Bicheon, but only until level 30. Otherwise you really have no strong attacks until level 30.

Cold 100

Best for slowing down mobs, best phys. def booster, snow shield will help you survive.

Frost Guard: These boost phys. def. Very helpful since you have naturally high mag. def but low phys. def.

Frost Wall: Like the firewall, just skill the first level because it will prevent abnormal statuses, kd, stun. Pure Int (mainly the Euros since no phy. attack) won’t be able to get rid of the wall.

Snow Storm: These are your nukes. Weak compared to other nukes. Get them if you want a probability to give enemies (mainly mobs since it’s useless in PvP) freeze or frostbite.

Snow Shield: This is your best friend, at the 90 cap, it is around 60% mp absorption. That absorbs more than half the damage!!

Cold Armor: Permanently increases phys. def.

Pretty much the only skills you need. Skill anything else you wish.

MAXED OUT with Nukes: 477,241 sp required.

MAXED OUT without Nukes: 304,314 sp required.

Lightning 100

Best to kill multiple mobs because of transfer hits, best mag. attack booster, makes you run faster.

Piercing Force: Increase mag. Attack and is a must for pure int.

Wind Walk: Good for walking faster and running away XD.

Lion Shout: These are your nuke finishes. Save time and mp by just using this skill on low hp enemies.

Concentration: Increases parry ratio. Higher parry ratio equals less damage taken.

Thunderbolt Force: These are your nukes. Use these against multiple mobs.

Heaven’s Force: Permanently increases parry ratio.

MAXED OUT: 458,831 sp required.

Fire 100

Best phys. attack booster and mag. def booster, best immunity to abnormal states, strongest imbue.

Fire Force: Strongest imbue in the game. Will increase nuke power by a lot.

Fire Shield: By the last book, you’re pretty much immune to all imbue status effects.

Fire Protection: Boosts mag. def. Can’t have too much def XD

Flame Wall: it will absorb any nuke of any magnitude and will prevent any abnormal statuses, kd, stun. Pure STR (mainly Euros since no mag. attack) won’t be able to get rid of the wall.

Flame Wave: These are your nukes. Use the one that shoots forward for single mobs, and the meteor looking ones for multiple mobs.

Pretty much the only skills you need. Skill anything else you wish. I recommend skilling Fire Combustion if you plan on jobbing or even PvP a lot with those tricky euros chars XD, unless you want to use money on potions that detect invisibility/stealth.

MAXED OUT: 594,486 sp required.

Total SP is 1,530,558 with cold nukes

Tips on Dress PK2 Editing

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Are you bored of your current avatar and want to change it to another one? Or do you think a dress is disgusting and don’t want to see anyone with it anymore? Here are some tips on dress pk2 editing to solve your problems. You can replace a dress by another one via pk2 editing.

First, backup your media.pk2! It’s important! You can find media.pk2 in your silkroad folder.

Then download XVI32 and extract in a new folder.

Now you can run XVI32.exe. Go to: File > Open… and search of your media.pk2 and open it.

For example we are going to edit the euro wedding dress into a Chinese one. (For all avatar codes, look at the bottom of this guide!) Go to Search and click Replace.

You got a new screen now where you can enter some data. Put both buttons on ‘Text String’. Mark both ‘As Unicode Latin’ on. In the upper text field fill in the avatar code of the current name of the dress, put ’scope from’ on ‘begin’. The FF FE 31 in the Hex string box is not needed, just leave that unmarked and empty if it was empty.

Double check the data you entered and press ‘Replace all’. A loading bar will be shown now, shouldn’t take more than couple of seconds. After that a pop-up shows that there are x amount of items replaced, that’s fine. If it says there are no or 0 files replaced you did something wrong or you already overwrite the dress.

Go to: File > Save and save your file. After that, close XVI32.

Now test your game! If the game crashes: Use your backup to get your original media.pk2 back and maybe try again.

Do not try to replace a dress with a dress from another serie, your game might crash if you do so since items are missing! Remember that M = male and W = female, replacing a male dress only will keep the female original and replacing a male dress with a female dress will crash the game, so only replace M with M and W with W. Clown avatar is missing since this is giving problems since it has 2 different dresses.
